First Sergeant Marcus T.Williams was born on June 1, 1970 in Jacksonville, Arkansas. He graduated
from high school in 1988 from Sylvan Hills High School.
First Sergeant Williams entered service on July 26th, 1988. He was assigned to Echo Battery, 1st
Battalion, 19th Field Artillery, and Fort Sill, Oklahoma for Basic Training and Advanced Cannon
Crewman Course. First Sergeant Williams graduated Advanced Artillery Cannon Crewman Course
Class # 42-88 as an Honor Graduate and spent his initial tour of duty in Fort Richardson, Alaska
serving in Bravo Battery, 4th Battalion, and 11th Field Artillery from November 1988 to September
1991.
In September 1991, First Sergeant Williams was reassigned to Fort Lewis, Washington where he
served in Alpha Battery, 3rd Battalion, and 11th Field Artillery as a gunner with the “Black Lion
Battalion”. In August 1993, he did a inter post move to Bravo Battery 1st Battalion, 11th Field
Artillery, which later did an entact unit move to Fort Polk, Louisiana.
The unit was deactivated from 1st Battalion, 11th Field Artillery and reactivated as 2nd Howitzer
Battery 2nd Squadron, 2nd ACR where he served as the gunner of 5th Howitzer Section on the M198,
155mm towed Howitzer.
In September 1995, First Sergeant Williams was assigned to Charlie Battery, 1st Battalion, 7th Field
Artillery, and Schweinfurt, Germany. He served as a Howitzer Section Chief in a 155mm (SP) M109 Howitzer Battery. Also during his tour with the
unit 1SG Williams deploy to Bosnia in Support of Operation Joint Endeavor.
Upon completion of tour in Germany, First Sergeant Williams was assigned November 1997 to Bravo 1st Battalion, 30th Field Artillery, and Fort Sill,
Oklahoma as an Instructor for the Officer Basic Course (OBC). 1SG Williams was reassigned to Alpha 1st Battalion, 79th Field Artillery where he
served as the Scheduling Sergeant and Operations Sergeant in a Basic Combat Training (BCT) and One Station Unit Training (OSUT) training
battalion from March 1999 to July 2001.
In July 2001, First Sergeant Williams received order for Schweinfurt, Germany. He served as a Platoon Sergeant for Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion,
and 7th Field Artillery until January 2004. 1SG Williams once again deployed this time to Kosovo in Support of Operation Joint Guardian.
In January 2004, 1SG Williams was reassigned to Fort Carson, Colorado and was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 362nd Field Artillery (TSB) 91st
Division as an Observer/ Controller-Trainer.
In January 2005, 1SG Williams was reassigned to Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
First Sergeant Williams awards includes the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), the Army Commendation Medal (2nd Oak Leaf
Cluster), the Army Achievement Medal, (seventh Oak Leaf Cluster), the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Force
Expeditionary Medal, Kosovo Campaign Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, and NATO Medal.
First Sergeant Williams is married to SSG Thomasine Williams assigned to 159 Aviation, and they have three children; Jessica A. Williams 14 yrs,
Marcus T. Williams Jr 12 yrs, and Marcus T. Williams II 3yrs.
